In my previous posts, I’ve explored what psychic vampirism and psychic attack are and how to recognize their symptoms. But there’s another crucial piece of this puzzle that I want to address: why psychic vampirism and psychic attack seem to be becoming increasingly common in our modern world. Based on my research and personal experience, I believe we are living through what amounts to a perfect storm of conditions that both trigger more psychic vampirism and psychic attack, and make us more vulnerable to both.
The reality is sobering: nearly every aspect of modern life appears to be contributing to this phenomenon. From the way we live and work, to how we connect with each other, to the very substances we put in our bodies to cope with it all, we are inadvertently creating an environment where psychic interference can flourish. Let me break down the key factors I believe are driving this troubling trend.
The Isolation Epidemic: When We’re Alone, We’re Vulnerable
Perhaps no factor contributes more to our collective vulnerability than the epidemic of isolation that has swept across modern society. This is a result of a cluster of factors, including the digital age (especially texting and social media), the loss of community in the modern world, and an aging population. Recent statistics paint a stark picture: approximately 20% of U.S. adults experience daily loneliness, while 30% of adults say they have experienced feelings of loneliness at least once a week over the past year. Globally, around 16% of people worldwide – one in six – are experiencing loneliness.
When we’re isolated, our energy field becomes more porous, more susceptible to intrusion. Think of it like this: when you’re surrounded by loving, supportive people, you have a kind of energetic buffer zone. But when you’re alone and feeling disconnected, that buffer disappears, leaving you exposed. It’s similar to how predators in the wild target animals that have been separated from their herd; isolated individuals are simply easier prey.
I’ve noticed in my own experience that my most intense periods of being psychically vampirized or attacked have coincided with times when I felt most alone and disconnected from my support network. People seemed to unconsciously sense my vulnerability and moved in accordingly. When we’re isolated, we’re not just lonely; we’re energetically defenseless.
The Digital Trap: Connection Without Protection
While technology is designed to bring us closer together in many ways, it has also created new pathways for psychic interference that never existed before. Any form of connection – even digital ones like texting, social media interactions, emails, or video calls – can serve as an access point for someone to psychically attach to you or maintain an existing energetic connection.
Consider how often you interact with people digitally now versus face-to-face. Every text exchange, every social media comment, every email creates an energetic bridge that can be exploited by someone looking to feed off your energy. What’s particularly insidious is that these digital connections can persist long after the interaction ends, creating invisible energetic cords that allow ongoing drain. The constant notifications, the feeling of being “always on,” the pressure to respond – it all creates multiple access points for energy drain that simply didn’t exist in previous generations.
Social media, in particular, has become a breeding ground for the emotions that fuel psychic attack: envy, comparison, resentment, and anger. How often do you scroll through someone’s highlight reel and feel that pang of “Why don’t I have that?” Or conversely, how often might others be looking at your posts with similar feelings? These negative emotions create the perfect conditions for unconscious psychic attacks to be launched. As if that weren’t enough, in recent years, social media has become rife with inflammatory posts, which can be pervasive and severe enough to even sever familial ties – and suddenly, just from a few inflammatory posts, you’ve got a perfect scenario for anger-based psychic attack.
The Burnout Crisis: When Everyone is Running on Empty
Burnout in the workplace has reached an all-time high, with around 82% of white-collar knowledge workers reporting being slightly to extremely burned out. 79% of employees report chronic workplace stress as a major issue affecting their well-being, with nearly three in five experiencing negative effects, including lack of interest, emotional exhaustion, and physical fatigue.
This universal depletion creates a vicious cycle. When people are chronically exhausted and running on empty, they unconsciously start looking for energy sources elsewhere—and that’s where psychic vampirism comes in. Remember what I mentioned in my post on psychic vampirism about people justifying their energy theft with “I need it”? This is exactly what’s happening on a mass scale—the need for a reliable source of energy has increased tenfold, and what results is a feeding frenzy of often mutual psychic vampirism.
At the same time, when you’re burned out, your own energy field becomes weakened and more susceptible to psychic vampirism and attack. You simply don’t have the energetic reserves to maintain strong boundaries. With 31% of workers citing stress as their leading cause of workplace fatigue, and increasing demands to do more with less time and resources, we’re all walking around like energetic sitting ducks.
I’ve observed this pattern repeatedly: the person who’s working sixty-hour weeks suddenly starts feeding on their family members at home, or the overwhelmed parent begins unconsciously draining their children or spouse. They’re not doing it maliciously; they’re literally running on empty and desperately seeking any source of energy to keep going.
The Lifestyle Factor: Lowering Our Vibration
Our modern lifestyle choices are systematically weakening our energy fields and making us more attractive targets for psychic vampirism and easier targets for psychic attack. Poor nutrition, sedentary lifestyles, and chronic sleep deprivation all serve to lower our vibration— and a lower vibration makes us more susceptible to psychic interference.
Think about it: when was the last time you went a full week eating only whole, unprocessed foods? When did you last get eight hours of quality sleep every night for a month straight? For most of us, the answer is probably “never” or “I can’t remember.” We’re living on processed foods, caffeine, and minimal sleep, wondering why we feel so drained and vulnerable.
When our physical bodies are depleted, our energetic bodies are weakened as well. It’s like trying to maintain a strong immune system while living on junk food and no sleep; it simply doesn’t work. And just as a weakened immune system makes you more susceptible to physical illness, a weakened energy field makes you more susceptible to psychic interference.
The Mental Health Crisis: Depression and Anxiety as Vulnerability Factors
The mental health crisis has reached epidemic proportions, with global prevalence of anxiety and depression having increased by a massive 25% following the COVID-19 pandemic. About a quarter of all US adults now report depression, and a fifth have an anxiety disorder. Depression and anxiety are estimated to cause a global loss of one trillion US dollars in productivity each year, illustrating just how widespread these conditions have become.
Depression and anxiety create a double vulnerability when it comes to psychic vampirism. First, they weaken your energy field, making you more susceptible to attack. When you’re depressed or anxious, your light is already dimmed, making it harder to maintain strong energetic boundaries. You’re in a state of chronic energetic depletion that makes you an attractive target.
Second, people suffering from depression and anxiety may unconsciously turn to psychic vampirism as a coping mechanism. When you feel empty, depleted, and hopeless, the unconscious mind may seek energy from others as a way to feel better, even temporarily. I’ve known numerous people who were completely unaware that their depression was driving them to psychically feed on their loved ones.
The pervasive sense of dread and uncertainty that characterizes modern life—from climate change and political divisiveness to economic instability and global conflicts—keeps everyone in a state of chronic low-level anxiety. This constant background stress weakens our energetic defenses and makes us both more likely to vampirize others and more vulnerable to being vampirized ourselves.
The Medication Trap: Unintended Energetic Consequences
As depression and anxiety rates have soared, so has the use of psychiatric medications. In fact, 13% of adults in the US (that's over one in ten, so people you know) now take an antidepressant. While these medications can be lifesaving for many people, there’s an energetic aspect to their use that’s rarely discussed: many psychiatric medications can lower your vibration, weaken your energy field, or make you a more attractive target for psychic vampirism.
I’ve mentioned in previous posts that people can feed off what you put in your body, and this includes prescription medications. Some vampires are specifically drawn to the energy of people on certain medications—particularly those that work immediately and feel good, like stimulants or benzodiazepines. I’ve personally experienced vampires who would increase their feeding when they sensed I had taken something that altered my energy state. I would even hear them unconsciously trying to manipulate me into taking them.
This creates a vicious cycle: you may feel you need medication to cope with symptoms that are actually being caused or exacerbated by undetected psychic vampirism or attack, but the medication itself may make you more vulnerable to further interference. It’s not that psychiatric medications are inherently bad—they serve an important purpose for many people, myself included—but it’s crucial to understand that they may have energetic consequences that aren’t discussed in conventional medicine.
The Substance Abuse Connection: Seeking Relief, Finding More Vulnerability
Substance use has been on the rise in many areas, particularly alcohol consumption, which increased significantly during and after the pandemic. In the US, about 10% of the adult population now has an alcohol use disorder - and who could forget the recent opioid crisis? While substances can provide temporary relief from the symptoms of psychic interference—and as I mentioned, some people drink specifically to dim their light and make it less attractive to vampires—they ultimately create more problems than they solve.
Alcohol, drugs, and other substances weaken your energy field over time, making you increasingly vulnerable to psychic vampirism and attack. They may provide short-term relief, but they compromise your long-term energetic defenses. I’ve also observed that some vampires specifically target people who use substances, as they can get a “contact high” off the altered energy state.
This creates yet another vicious cycle: you use substances to cope with feelings of depletion and vulnerability (which may be caused by psychic vampirism or attack), but the substances make you even more susceptible to further interference, requiring more substances to cope, and so on.
The Perfect Storm
When you step back and look at all these factors together, it becomes clear why psychic vampirism and attack appear to be on the rise. We have a population that is increasingly isolated, chronically burned out, mentally and physically depleted, and relying on medications and substances that may further compromise their energetic defenses. At the same time, the very technologies that are supposed to connect us have created new pathways for psychic interference.
It’s a perfect storm of vulnerability—and unfortunately, I don’t see these trends reversing any time soon. If anything, the pressures of modern life seem to be intensifying, which means the problem of psychic interference is likely to get worse before it gets better.
What This Means for You
Understanding these broader trends is crucial because it helps explain why you might be experiencing psychic interference even if you’ve never encountered it before. It’s not that you’ve done anything wrong or that you’re particularly vulnerable; it’s that we’re all living in an environment that makes psychic vampirism and attack more common and more intense than ever before.
The good news is that awareness is the first step toward protection. Once you understand how modern life contributes to psychic interference, you can start making conscious choices to strengthen your energetic defenses. This might mean being more selective about your digital interactions, prioritizing your physical health and energy levels, being aware of how substances affect your energy field, or simply recognizing when isolation is making you more vulnerable.
The rise of psychic vampirism and attack in modern life isn’t inevitable; it’s a consequence of choices we’ve made as a society about how we live, work, and connect with each other. By understanding these dynamics, we can start making different choices, both individually and collectively, to create a world where psychic interference is less common and less harmful.
In related posts, we’ll explore specific strategies for protecting yourself in this challenging energetic environment, because while we may not be able to change society overnight, we can certainly strengthen our own defenses and reclaim our energy.
Thank you so much for reading, and I would love to hear about your observations of how modern life has affected your own energy levels and experiences with psychic interference in the comments. May you be blessed with all the energy and light you need to shine your brightest, even in these challenging times!
